Minoru Yasui, Rhone Brackett, and other area Inns of Court are planning a jointly sponsored all-Inn cocktail hour for the Colorado Inns of Court on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the Colorado Supreme Court rotunda. We are still waiting to finalize information on the specific start time for the event and the cost. Please check back here for updates.
The Doyle Inn would like to invite you to a training focusing on the successful cross examination of witnesses at trial in civil cases. It is entitled “Cross Examination – What You Need to Know”. This session is part of the basic practical skills in civil litigation sponsored by the Doyle Inn. We are applying for 2 CLE’s for each of our sessions. There is no charge for attendees.
The purpose of this session is to provide young lawyers with practical advice on cross examining a witness at trial. It will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the downtown office of Wheeler, Trigg, O’Donnell at 370 Seventeenth Street, Suite 4500 Denver, Colorado 80202-5647. Our instructors will include Kevin Traskos, Civil Chief, Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Colorado and Craig May from Wheeler, Trigg and O’Donnell.
Materials will be distributed ahead of time so participants will have examples for future use. We hope this will be an interactive process with participants feeling free to ask questions and contribute experiences. We also invite experienced practitioners to share experiences as well as sample pleadings and outlines.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope these talks will help further the Inns’ purpose of educating and mentoring young lawyers.
Matthew Faga and Ken Buechler are coaching the team this year (here is the 2016 Competition Brochure). We have three DU students signed up. They have just submitted their brief for the competition. We need to get them to New York for the oral argument rounds in March. The estimated travel costs are $10,000 to take 3 students and 2 coaches.
Any and all donations are appreciated. The donations are tax deductible as a non-profit contribution. The checks can be made payable to the “University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Bankruptcy Moot Court Team” and sent to the following person at DU:
Jenny Savage, Donor Relations & Stewardship, University of Denver Sturm College of Law, 2255 East Evans Avenue, Denver, CO 80208
Matt and Ken appreciate everyones’ generous support. After the competition, we plan on hosting a luncheon for all of the supporters to let them know how the team did and to thank you for your support.
Congratulations to the following Rhone Brackett members who passed the Colorado Bar:
Please join us in welcoming them to the bar.
